NMC approves seven new seats in MD, Paediatrics in GDMC

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has given its permission to the Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) for seven new seats in the MD paediatrics course. The admission in these seats will be done from the merit of NEET- PG examination. 

 The Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that the objective of the State government is to expand the scope of medical education in the State to remove the problem of paucity of specialist doctors. He said that efforts are being made to start PG classes in every medical college of the State. 

The minister informed that at present the PG courses are available in three government medical colleges of Dehradun, Srinagar and Haldwani. He said that NMC has approved 174 seats in these colleges in 19 disciplines.

 The minister expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Health minister JP Nadda for providing new PG seats in paediatrics to GDMC. He said that efforts are being made to increase the number of PG seats in the medical colleges of the State.
