In latest news from Dehradun, with the environmentalists along with political leaders and common people remaining vehemently critical on the social media platforms over the possibility of felling hundreds of trees for widening Cantt Road stretching to the chief minister’s residence in Vijay Colony, the CM Pushkar Singh Dhami made it categorically clear that not a single tree would be allowed to be felled for the said road project.
Notably, with Dehradun with other parts of the State reeling under an unprecedented, prolonged heatwave, the people, including the environmentalists and opposition leaders, are ascribing this development to reckless felling of trees in executing infrastructural projects. They asked the State government to halt tree felling failing which they threatened full-blown stir.
