Higher Education minister directs all colleges, institutions to apply for NAAC & NIFR
The Higher Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat has said that the one government college in every district would be made a model college to fulfill the objective of making higher education in the state research and job oriented. He took a review meeting with the officers of the higher education department at his Vidhan Sabha office on Saturday. In the meeting, he directed the officers to prepare the proposal of the model colleges in all the districts. He said that the courses on research and vocational training would be conducted in these colleges in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020. He said that all the colleges and the educational institutes must compulsorily apply for the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). This would help in increasing the quality of education in the state, he opined.
The minister also directed that a task force should be constituted to check the increasing prevalence of drug abuse in institutes of higher education in the state. He said that the task force would initiate an anti drugs campaign in the state from September 1.
The minister also asked the colleges to prepare the proposal for appointing one Yoga teacher and said that the vacant posts of Principals should be filled by holding Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meeting. The minister also directed that Prabhat Pheri programmes should be held in all the colleges of the state on August 15.
The secretary higher education Shailesh Bagoli, Advisor RUSSA MSM Rawat, additional secretary Prashant Arya, M M Semwal and others were present in the meeting.
