In view of approaching New Year and Christmas celebrations, the Dehradun DM Ashish Kumar Srivastava has instructed police department and district officials like SDMs and city magistrate to establish coordination for the proper implementation of the orders of National Green Tribunal (NGT).
Under this order, Srivastava informed that only green crackers can be used from 11:55 PM to 12:30 AM on Christmas day and New Year in Dehradun, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Kashipur, Haldwani and Rudrapur and the sale of non-green crackers is also prohibited too.
The green crackers can be used only at the places where the air quality is moderate or below as per National Air Quality Index, as per the DM’s order.
