Panchayati Raj dept gears up for audit of Village Panchayats

The Panchayati Raj department of Uttarakhand has taken a target of 100 percent online audit of village Panchayats for the financial year 2020-21 till October this year. The Panchayati Raj secretary, H C Semwal said that the Union minister for Panchayati Raj, Narendra Singh Tomar took a review of the process of online audit of Village Panchayats on Tuesday. He said that the audit examination of budget allocated to Panchayats by the government of India is being done by online audit. Under it a target of audit of 20 percent village Panchayats for the FY 2019-20 has been taken while for the FY 2020-21, audit of all the village Panchayats would be done. Semwal said that the process of audit of Panchayats by listed CA firms by the department of finance is going on.
It is pertinent to mention here that there is a provision of cessation of grants from the Central Finance Commission and other bodies in case the state fails to conduct audit of 20 percent of the village Panchayats.
The review meeting of the minister was attended by officials of Panchayati Raj department and officers of state audit department.
