The absence of adequate number of rain shelters is exacerbating the problems being faced due to the weather. The bridle path to Kedarnath becomes slippery at various patches after rain. The police have been repeatedly appealing to people to first check the weather report before embarking on their journey to Kedarnath. However, the challenges posed by the weather are not dampening the enthusiasm of the pilgrims.

The weather has taken an unexpected turn with snowfall and rain being experienced in Kedarnath even during the last week of April. The locals and the authorities are facing some problems in ensuring good facilities for the pilgrims due to the rain and snowfall being experienced in Kedarnath. Rainfall is being experienced in the area from Gaurikund to Linchauli and snowfall is being experienced in the Kedarnath area. On the bridle path, glaciers have been cut at three spots to clear a six feet wide bridle path. However, the consistent snowfall is also affecting the dimensions of the path. The district administration has posted personnel of the State Disaster Response Force and others at such points. About five kilometre of the path is covered in snow. The authorities are consistently keeping the travellers informed about the weather.
