In latest news from Uttarakhand, the district chief medical officer Dr B S Rawat chaired an inter-departmental meeting in Uttarkashi convened to review progress of the Anaemia Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. It was decided at the meeting that iron folic acid supplements and iron folic syrup would be distributed in schools to reduce prevalence of this blood-related disease among students. The district coordinator Monu Sharma stressed on coordination among the departments concerned to effectively combat anaemia.
Officers of various departments like education, panchayati raj, municipality and childcare and women empowerment among others participated in the meeting. Among those present was the district programme manager National Health Mission Hardev Singh Rana. All present took a collective pledge to work hard to free the district from the disease.
