Police arrest MP gang for theft in two showrooms

The police arrested two members of an interstate gang of thieves that committed theft at two showrooms in Dehradun’s Patelnagar police station area in the wee hours of Monday. The accused have been identified as Mewalal Mohite (30) and Nandlal (34) who carried out theft in the Tata Oberoi Motors showroom and Nexa showroom on the same night under the Patelnagar Police station area. The police have claimed to arrest them within 48 hours. The Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh said that the thieves belonged to Madhya Pradesh who stole cash of about Rs five lakh from both showrooms near ISBT on the same night. The parties concerned filed an FIR in both cases against the unknown accused. Considering the seriousness of theft from two big showrooms on the same night in the same area, the SSP formed several teams to investigate the cases. The police started analysing CCTV footage installed in showrooms’ premises and nearby areas. The police observed two suspicious persons near the incident site with a car with a Madhya Pradesh number plate. Singh said that the police activated the informer system and a team was also sent to MP for investigation. The police finally nabbed both accused from MP’s Khandwa district late on Tuesday. The police recovered the stolen cash of about Rs five lakh along with the car and tools used by the gang to steal the money. The SSP said that the arrested accused also revealed during the interrogation about their two accomplices who helped them to conduct theft.
