The members of Roadways Karmchari Sanyukt Parishad will boycott work on Monday in all bus depots of Uttarakhand Transport Corporation (UTC) seeking regularisation of outsourced employees and other demands. The secretary of the union, Dinesh Pant informed that there are employees working in the corporation for about two decades but the government has still not regularised their jobs. He said that the union is also against the order of the administration to make deductions from the salary of those roadways employees who got more benefits under the Assured Career Promotion (ACP) scheme in the past several years. He said that the benefit of ACP was given after verification by the officials and the personnel are not responsible for it. Deducting an employee’s salary of past several months is harassment, added Pant. He said that there are other several issues too which they will present before the state administration. He said, “Dearness and other allowances are not being paid to employees as per the norms. We have given memorandums to the management several times regarding our demands but we received no response which has forced us to plan a state-wide phased agitation.” “We have decided to boycott work in all major depots of the state on Monday. We will also stage our protest against the Transport department. If they fail to take any concrete decision in our demands, we will start an indefinite work boycott from March 28. Since the new government will have been formed by then, they can get involved in this matter too. We have planned our protest in a phased manner and will not refrain from intensifying it across the state if the government remains apathetic towards us,” added Pant.
