Sarojini wins gold in national snowshoe championship

Twenty-year old Sarojini Singh has won a gold medal for Uttarakhand in the eighth national snowshoe championship at Sonamarg in Kashmir. She hails from Chaud village in the Dewal block of Chamoli district.Her father Ganga Singh is a farmer while her mother Rukma Devi is a housewife. Coming from a middle class family, Sarojini dreams of one day representing the nation in running at the Olympics, for which she is training hard. She passed her XII class examination but could not pursue higher education due to family issues. Sarojini has faced various struggles with grit and proved her skills without access to resources. Having won a gold at the national level in the snowshoe championship, she also wants to make her mark in running at the international level.
