One woman was killed while five others were injured in an accident in Rudrapur of Udham Singh Nagar district on Wednesday when a school bus ran over them.
The officials revealed that the accident occurred on Tuesday evening. The women were waiting for auto rickshaws on the Kashipur Road near Alliance flyover in Rudrapur when the bus ran over them from behind. The injured were rushed for treatment to the district hospital where one was declared as brought dead, the officials said. They informed that the police received the information about the accident late in the evening. The police have started an investigation into the matter as per the instruction of the Udham Singh Nagar senior superintendent of police Manjunath TC. The police have sent the body of the deceased woman for post mortem. The other injured women are currently undergoing treatment in the hospital, the officials said. They stated that as per the CCTV footage of the accident, the name of a private school was written on the school bus. The police are investigating the matter and will nab the driver soon, they added.
