A 75-year-old woman living in the Bhandaribagh area of Dehradun was brutally murdered on Saturday. The police suspect that the accused might be somebody she already knew and was expecting to meet them that day. The police informed that the deceased named Kamlesh Dhawan used to live alone in her house. She also had three daughters- two of whom reside in Vasant Vihar and the IMA area of Dehradun and the third lives in Chandigarh.
The police said that one of her daughters contacted a neighbour of her mother when she could not reach her by phone despite making multiple calls. When the neighbour reached the home of the old lady, he found her on the floor with her throat slit. He informed the daughter who called the police. According to the police, several articles and things from home were scattered and they are yet to ascertain whether it was a robbery.
The police said that the victim had also asked her maid to cook food for five people as she was probably expecting to meet them on Saturday night. The cooked food was also found in the kitchen. The people the victim was planning to meet are also on the police’s list of suspects. The officials said that they are investigating the case and will arrest the murderer soon.
