Shop fined Rs 75K for charging Rs 20 more on beer bottle

As part of the drive being undertaken by the Excise department on the directions of the district magistrate R Rajesh Kumar, the operators of a licensed liquor shop in Dehradun were fined Rs 75,000 for charging Rs 20 more than the MRP on a beer bottle. Based on a complaint received by the district magistrate, the Excise department team members acted as customers and purchased beer and liquor bottles from an IMFL shop in Danda Lakhaund. The shop was selling a beer bottle for Rs 20 higher than the MRP due to which the department issued a challan of Rs 75,000. The department also issued a stern warning to the license holder and vendor of the shop directing them to strictly follow the district magistrate’s orders.
District magistrate R Rajesh Kumar informed that the Excise department has been ordered to conduct regular inspections in order to ensure that shops are not overrating liquor in the district. The department has been directed to take action in case of irregularities which is to be followed by strict action in case of repeated violations of the law.
