In the presence of the Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Ritu Bhushan Khanduri, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Swami Rama Himalayan University (SRHU) based in Jolly Grant, Dehradun, and International Institute of Parliamentary Studies, Research, and Training (IIPSRT) based in Bharadisain-Gairsain.

The primary objective of this MoU is to promote institutional collaboration and participatory strategies in areas such as the environment, climate change, drinking water, water source management, health, sanitation, women’s empowerment, rural innovation and community governance. The MoU was signed by the registrar of SRHU, Commander (Retd) Challa Venkateshwar and secretary, IIPSRT, Hem Chandra Pant.

Addressing the programme, Khanduri said that the agreement represents not just a collaboration between two institutions but a decisive step toward shaping the future of Uttarakhand. “Our dream is to transform Bharadisain from being simply an administrative capital to a centre where policy, science, research and tradition converge to address the challenges facing Uttarakhand,” she said.

The SRHU vice-chancellor, Rajendra Dobhal said that the university’s mission goes beyond education and healthcare. “It seeks to bridge the gap between science, service and society. Under this agreement, both institutions will initiate joint projects focusing on the environment, spring-shed management (revival of water sources), rainwater harvesting, women’s leadership, traditional knowledge-based solutions and holistic health in climate-sensitive regions. The collaboration will also include training programmes, exposure visits, policy dialogues and the development of digital platforms for legislators, among other initiatives,” he said.
