Police have registered a case of murder against an unknown person after the brother of the person found dead in the Dehradun’s Bindal river near Lal Pull expressed suspicion of murder. The Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh formed special teams on Wednesday to investigate the case. He said that the police found the body of a man aged between 25 and 30 years lying in the Bindal River near Lal Pull on September 30.

The man possibly died about a week ago and this appeared to have occurred under suspicious circumstances. After completing the required procedure, the police made efforts to identify the body and sent pamphlets with the deceased’s information to all police stations in the Dehradun and nearby districts. The body was kept in a mortuary for two days and was finally identified on October 2 by a man named Ram Chandra who claimed to be the deceased’s elder brother.

He identified the body as Shiv Kumar alias Bablu, a native of Uttar Pradesh’s Amethi and was living in Dehradun’s Patelnagar area. The police handed over the body to the brother after completing the required procedures. The SSP said that Chandra on Tuesday filed a written complaint stating that he suspects that his brother was allegedly murdered by a person. He also provided all the details of this person to the police. The special police teams formed on Wednesday have started the investigation to uncover the circumstances that led to the death of Kumar, added Singh.
