The Chinhit Rajya Andolankari Sanyukt Samiti patron and Pradesh Congress Committee vice president Dhirendra Pratap said that statehood activists will gherao the chief minister’s residence in Dehradun on August 8 to protest against the government’s alleged failure on various issues pertaining to the statehood activists.

Addressing the media here on Tuesday, Pratap said that the State government has failed to provide employment and check corruption. He alleged that the state government is ignoring the statehood activists who had played a vital role in creation of Uttarakhand. The government is not ready to act on the issues of making Gairsain the permanent state capital, providing 10 per cent horizontal job reservation to statehood activists, completing the identification of remaining activists, pension for dependents of statehood activists and appointment of the Lokayukta. Citing these issues, he exhorted all statehood activists to reach Dehradun on August 8 to gherao the chief minister’s residence.
