Launching the Navnirman Samvad of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Uttarakhand virtually on Monday, the deputy chief minister of Delhi and senior leader of the party Manish Sisodia appealed to people to consider the upcoming assembly polls as an opportunity to change deteriorating conditions of the state which has been caused by the successive governments formed by BJP and Congress in the past 21 years. He appealed to people to stop the musical chair of power between these two dominant parties and give AAP a chance to develop the state like Delhi. He said in his virtual address that many lost their lives for a prosperous Uttarakhand 21 years ago but the state is yet to achieve the goal for which it was created. He said that the movement which was fought 21 years ago only benefited the leaders of Congress and BJP and the public is still suffering. He stated, “Both BJP and Congress have formed governments in the state but they did nothing for its development which was the main objective behind its creation. Rather than working on the development of people and the state, leaders of both the parties filled their coffers. Issues like lack of medical facilities and quality education besides unemployment and migration are still prominent in the state due to the apathetic attitude of the successive governments.” Sisodia said that several women die every year due to a lack of hospitals and medical facilities in the mountainous areas of the state even after 21 years. Only about three per cent of children get the quality education in the state while others are left to be at the mercy of the government. “Some privileged students who can afford good private schools are learning skills like coding while many students fail to write alphabets properly. Such disparity among students is due to the poor education system across the state which AAP will change after winning the elections,” stated the AAP leader. He added, “If you want good schools, good hospitals, crops in your fields and want people back in the deserted villages in the hills then give us a chance.” He said that the public gave 21 years to both Congress and BJP but he is asking for only one chance for AAP. “I appealed to the public to give a chance to AAP and the party’s convenor Arvind Kejriwal. Though no political party has the courage to say it ahead of the elections, I say that if AAP fails to bring the change as promised in the next five years, do not vote for the party next time. February 14 is not about which party will form the government but it is about saving Uttarakhand,” stated Sisodia.
