Stress laid on environmental preservation & drug-free society at UCB

While addressing a Harela festival programme held at Uttarakhand Council for Biotechnology (UCB) at Haldi, the superintendent of police (city) Rudrapur, Manoj Kumar Katyal said that the youth must come forward with unwavering commitment towards environment preservation and freeing the society from the clutches of intoxicants. Speaking on the occasion, the director UCB Sanjay Kumar said that 50 saplings of Ashoka were planted to mark the Harela festival. While dwelling on the importance of Ashoka tree, he said that it is not just loaded with medicinal properties but it also acts as environment cleanser. “It absorbs the harmful gases in the atmosphere,” he said, adding that the bark and leaves of this tree can be effectively used in the treatment of Cancer and many other ailments. The DSP Rudrapur Tapesh Kumar was also present as a guest. The SP and DSP spoke in details about the apps launched by police like Goura Shakti and Traffic Eye to the officials, staffers and researchers of the institute.
