District Magistrates asked to work on five pronged strategy of testing, vigilance, treatment, vaccination and Covid-19 appropriate behaviour
The increasing cases of Covid-19 and a spike in positivity rate in Uttarakhand have put the state administration in an alert mode. On Monday the secretary in- charge of medical, health and family welfare department and Mission Director (MD) of National Health Mission (NHM), R Rajesh Kumar issued an advisory in which all district magistrates (DM) have been asked to take appropriate measures to prevent the disease from taking form of a pandemic again. He said that the five pronged strategy of testing, vigilance, treatment, vaccination and adoption of Covid-19 appropriate behaviour should be used to prevent spread of the disease.
In his order, Kumar said that the DMs should undertake a campaign to spread awareness about Covid-19 appropriate behaviour such as wearing of masks, maintaining social distancing and regular sanitisation of hands. He said that the vaccination coverage should be increased. The DMs have also been asked to maintain availability of oxygen cylinders, oxygen concentrators, oxygen beds, ventilators, ICU beds and medicines. Kumar said that daily information about the admitted and infected patients of Covid-19 should be sent and it should be ensured that the patients are receiving proper treatment. The advisory maintains that the infected patients with mild symptoms should be treated in home isolation and a vigil on their health should be taken. Such patients should be shifted to hospitals if their condition deteriorates. The DMs have been asked to increase sampling and mandatory registration of all patients with Influenza like illness and SARI on Integrated Health Information Portal (IHIP) and their sampling for Covid-19 testing.
