The Uttarakhand State Commission for Women (USCW) is going to conduct the Poshan Maah awareness programme in Dehradun in the third week of September. Informing this, the USCW chairperson Kusum Kandwal said that the commission is all set to host the awareness programme in commemoration of the sixth Rashtriya Poshan Maah later this month. “The themes chosen for the programme revolve around the concept of ‘Suposhit Bharat, Sakshar Bharat, Sashakt Bharat’. The programme will involve participation of the women associated with Anganwadi centres aside from senior State government officials,” she added.
Kandwal said that there are many women in the State who possess limited knowledge or no knowledge at all regarding proper nutrition to be incorporated into their diets. “This seminar is being organised to address this matter and take the message of proper nutrition to the women at large. They must be educated about the important phases of life, namely infancy, childhood, adolescence and pregnancy. Additionally, the programme is aimed at cultivating nutritional knowledge among all sections of the women, particularly those belonging to the educationally and financially unprivileged sections, across the State through aligning them with the central theme of the upcoming seminar. The target attendance for this programme is approximately 200 to 250 women,” Kandwal added.
