Drop in maximum temperature recorded in various parts of State

After Dehradun and various other parts of the State witnessed a cloudy and rainy day on Sunday due to western disturbance, causing a considerable drop in the maximum temperatures in various regions, the State meteorological centre has once again issued a warning regarding the possibility of heavy rain/snowfall likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Pithoragarh and Bageshwar districts on Monday. Thunderstorms accompanied with hail/lightning/intense showers are likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Nainital, Champawat, Udham Singh Nagar and Haridwar districts. Apart from this, light to moderate rain/snowfall/thunderstorm is likely to occur at most places in the districts of the State while snowfall is likely to occur at places situated at altitudes of 2,200 metres and above today.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness partly to generally cloudy skies with light to moderate rain/thunderstorm accompanied with hail also likely to occur. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 15 degrees Celsius and nine degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun on Monday.

Meanwhile, a considerable drop in the maximum temperature was witnessed in various locations across the State on Sunday with Dehradun, Pantnagar and Mukteshwar registering a drop of five degrees Celsius in the maximum temperature which once again resulted in colder conditions after comparatively warmer conditions in the past few days. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Sunday were 15.8 degrees Celsius and 8.4 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 17.7 degrees Celsius and 7.4 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 17.2 degrees Celsius and 7.2 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 12 degrees Celsius and eight degrees Celsius respectively in New Tehri. According to the meteorological centre, the weather is expected to start clearing from January 31 though very light rain/snowfall is forecast in the higher altitude regions of some mountainous districts.
