Weather warning issued for Char Dham districts & mountains of Kumaon

The State meteorological centre has issued a weather warning for three districts where the Char Dham shrines are located and mountainous regions of Kumaon. The meteorological centre has forecast that thunderstorm accompanied with lightning/gusty wind (30-40 kmph) and intense showers are likely to occur at isolated places in the mountains of Kumaon region and Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag and Chamoli districts of Garhwal region on Wednesday.
Apart from this, very light to light rainfall/thunderstorm is likely to occur at a few places in the mountains of Kumaon region and at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag and Chamoli districts of Garhwal region today. Dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts of the State.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to experience mainly clear to partly cloudy sky with thunder cloud development likely to occur in some areas towards afternoon/evening. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 36 degrees Celsius and 21 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun on Wednesday. The State meteorological centre director Bikram Singh said that light to moderate rain and thunderstorm were reported in various parts of the State especially the mountainous regions on Tuesday. The weather is likely to clear on May 12 and the maximum temperature may register a rise of a couple of degrees then though it will remain within the normal limits.
Meanwhile on Tuesday, 20 millimetres rain was recorded at Jakhnidhar, 29 millimetres at Kausani, 11 millimetres at Rishikesh and 10 millimetres at Dunda. Dehradun also experienced a spell of light rain during the evening. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded at various places on Tuesday were 34.3 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 33.8 degrees Celsius and 22 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 21.2 degrees Celsius and 11.2 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 22.6 degrees Celsius and 14.4 degrees Celsius respectively in New Tehri.
