The newly elected Garhwal MP Anil Baluni said that he will work with the Central and State government to undertake concrete steps to mitigate the consistently rising migration from mountainous regions. Addressing the media at the party office in Gopeshwar on Saturday, he said that political representation has been affected in the mountainous regions due to migration. “My aim is to mitigate the migration and increase the political representation of the mountainous regions. We will work to fuel reverse migration and as part of these efforts the ‘Mera Vote Mera Gaon’ campaign will be conducted next month to encourage natives living elsewhere to cast their votes in their villages,” he said.
Referring to the problems faced by people of Chamoli district in getting their passports made, he said that a passport centre will be opened in Gopeshwar soon. Baluni further said that works on improving connectivity, boosting employment and other development works will be done in a coordinated manner in the Garhwal constituency. “This constituency will become one of the leading constituencies in the nation. Even as a Rajya Sabha member in the past, I left no stone unturned to develop this region, especially for better medical treatment in various districts. I will also make efforts to open a multispeciality hospital and medical college in Gopeshwar,” the MP added. Regarding the Badrinath Vidhan Sabha by election, he expressed confidence that the BJP will win by a record margin.
Later, while addressing the party workers, he thanked them for the efforts during the election and stressed that he will fulfill all the promises he had made during the election campaign.
