Workshop hosted to train women farmers on Climate Smart Agriculture

In latest news from Uttarakhand, women farmers were given training on Climate Smart Agriculture at a workshop organised under the Rural Enterprise Acceleration Project in Dunda development block of Uttarkash district to mark the International Day of the Girl Child. At the workshop, they were imparted knowledge about the effects of climate change on agriculture, climate friendly agriculture, organic and natural farming, integrated pesticide management, improved crop practices, selection of improved varieties of seeds, promotion of modern agriculture, irrigation management, integrated farming, poultry farming and goat rearing. A total of 34 women from Unnati CLF participated in this workshop. The speakers stressed on the village women earning livelihood through adoption of innovative technologies to mitigate the effect of climate on the quantity and quality of crops. They said that empowerment of the rural women meant vibrant rural economy.
