Wednesday, 04 July 2018 | PNS | Haridwar– Under beauty and wellness sector, Yogacharyas from various Yoga institutions gathered under one roof to do Level 5 course mastering skills in Yoga training. Clearing online three step pre-screening test, they were made eligible for this Recognition of Prior Learning under national skill development corporation started under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna proramme and they were honed to start their own yoga centres with minimum investment. The three- day workshop on recognition of prior learning (RPL) Yoga Level 5, was managed by coordinators from Dehradun, Pulkit Tyagi and Rekha Uniyal with participation from across the country. The successful candidates will get certificates from National Skill Development Corporation, Ministry of skills, Government of India, said the coordinators. Speaking to The Pioneer, Dr Tarun K Garg, master trainer of NSDC, said, “The beauty and wellness industry in India is growing at a rate of 18.6% and is likely to reach 100,000 crore mark soon. The sector is thriving on the affluent and middle class population that has started considering beauty and wellness as a necessity. Increased emphasis on a holistic wellbeing with people’s desire to look good and young are other motivators for the beauty and wellness industry.” RPL certification is initiative of PMKVY facilitating yoga enthusiasts to get jobs as Yoga instructors in the Government and the private sector and also to start up one’s own Yoga centre. Participants from far–off States like Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana besides Uttarakhand came for the yoga instructor course. Sit-ups combined with other yoga poses and breathing techniques are beneficial even to the cancer patients, said the master trainer. The participants experienced how monitoring of breath calmed the mind and the rate of inhalation and exhalation decreased from 16 per minute to 3 or 4 per minute, thus increasing longevity of the yogis, he added.
