Youth Voter Festival organised in Lansdowne

In view of the upcoming assembly elections in the state , a Youth Voter Festival and Mahila Choupal programme  was organized at Station Sainik Institute (SSI) Hall and Maidan Surjan Auditorium at Garhwal Rifle Regiment Centre Lansdowne on Monday. The objective of the programme was to create voter awareness amongst people.  The chief guest of the programme the Chief Electoral Officer Uttarakhand Sowjanya appealed to the people to participate in Vidhan Sabha elections for a strong democracy. She also made people take the oath to vote along with a resolution letter. On this occasion, she said, “this program has been organized to increase the voting percentage in the assembly constituency of Lansdowne from the last election, and to increase the voting percentage for voter awareness under the sweep program.” Moreover, information regarding control units, ballot units and VVPAT was also given in this program and the questions of voters were answered and their doubts were resolved. She also inspected the Demo Polling Booth under Vidhan Sabha Lansdowne, along with the Selfie Point and Rangoli made under Sweep for the Vidhan Sabha General Election 2022.

Brigadier of the Garhwal Regiment Harmeet Sethi was the special guest in the programme. He appealed that people should not let their vote go to waste and contribute to the development of the country by casting the vote in the upcoming elections. On the other hand, State level sweep coordinator Sujata Singh obtained information from the people present in the program by conducting election related quiz and those who gave correct answers were also rewarded. Chief Development Officer (CDO) Prashant Kumar Arya, Additional District Magistrate Eela Giri, other officers, military personnel and local residents were present on the occasion. Param Rang Manch cultural team performed a street play, Jago Re Jago along with the cultural programs performed by the women of NRLM.
