10 injured after vehicle crashes & falls on side on Badrinath highway

Ten persons were injured when the driver of a Tempo Traveller lost control of the vehicle, causing it to crash into the mountainside before falling on its side on the national highway to Badrinath. The accident occurred near Lambagad on Sunday. The Govindghat police station in-charge Lakshmi Prasad Bijalwan informed that a Tempo Traveller UK-08PA-2303 was transporting 16 persons from Bihar, Lucknow, Ujjain, Amethi and Hyderabad. The driver suddenly lost control of the vehicle which first crashed into the mountain and then fell on its side on the road. Ten of the passengers in the vehicle sustained injuries in the mishap. They were treated in the Jaypee Hospital in Lambagarh. The driver of the vehicle, Pavanesh Kumar informed the police that he was driving from Badrinath to Joshimath when the mishap occurred, possibly due to brake failure. The police used heavy machinery to move the damaged vehicle to the side of the road in order to resume movement of traffic on the road.
