10 km run to be held for voting awareness

The office of Uttarakhand Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) will organise a 10-kilometre run in the provisional State capital on the occasion of National Youth Day on January 12.
Large number of locals including the personnel of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Uttarakhand Police and members of secretariat’s athletics club will take part in the event.
The theme of the event is ‘healthy voters- healthy democracy’. The run will commence from the Survey of India and will culminate at Mahindra Grounds in Dehradun Cantt.
The additional chief electoral officer (ACEO) Vijay Kumar Jogdande said that the objective of the event is to create awareness for voting among the people.
He said that the participants can take part in the run under five categories and winners, first and second runner ups in every category will be felicitated. Jogdande said that a total of 600 people have so far registered for the 10 km run. He said that youngsters who have attained 18 years of age can take part in the event. The last date for registration for the run is January 8.
