Over 10,000 people have registered as volunteers for the 38th National Games in Uttarakhand, surpassing the requirement of only 2,500 volunteers. Informing this, the chief executive officer (CEO) of the National Games Amit Sinha said that they were overwhelmed with the support received for this significant event. The volunteer registration process is continuing and these volunteers will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful conduct of the event.
As preparations for the 38th National Games are gaining momentum, there is a remarkable enthusiasm for volunteering. Individuals ranging from college students to retired army officers are eager to volunteer. Registrations are also coming in from other states, bringing the total to nearly 10,000. Despite this surge, the department still requires 2,500 volunteers. Following the launch of the mascot and other symbols for the National Games, the pace of registrations has significantly increased, Sinha added.
The additional CEO Prashant Arya noted that many retired officers have registered, showcasing their desire to assist as volunteers. Registrations are also being received from individuals in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra among other states.
Notably, to register as a volunteer for the National Games, candidates must go to the Sports Department’s website. It is essential that applicants are at least 18 years old. After registration, candidates will undergo a selection process based on the information they provide. During registration, there are two category options: one indicating a sports background and the other for general applicants. Each volunteer will receive an e-certificate from the department, confirming their registration. Those selected as volunteers will earn a separate certificate for the National Games 2025. Selected volunteers will receive necessary training at the department level after which they will be assigned to various roles as needed. Volunteers will assist with all arrangements, including sports events, parking and welcoming guests.

They said that they aim to complete the selection process for volunteers by the first or second week of January so that the necessary training and deployment arrangements can be finalised accordingly.
