The national flag triggers a sense of nationalism in people: Speaker
The speaker of Uttarakhand assembly Premchand Agarwal hoisted the national flag on a 101 feet pole at state assembly in a glittering ceremony on Friday. The 30 feet long and 20 feet wide flag was ceremoniously brought to the mega pole located near gate no -1 of assembly by a posse of policemen in a procession headed by speaker and other dignitaries. The huge flag was mechanically hoisted after which the speaker Agarwal unfurled it by pushing a switch button.
Speaking on the occasion, the speaker said that the tricolour triggers a sense of nationalism in people and the national flag has become a mantra of development in the 21st century. In his address the Agriculture minister Subodh Uniyal said that tricolour is a symbol of pride and power and it guides us to keep marching on the path of development, peace and prosperity.
The Women and Child development minister Rekha Arya said that the assembly building would now be identified by the huge tricolour. The president of Uttarakhand unit of BJP, Bansidhar Bhagat said that the tricolour instils confidence and valour in the hearts of our brave soldiers.
It is pertinent to mention here that the speaker Premchand Agarwal had declared on July 22 this year that a 101 ft high national flag would be hoisted in the assembly campus. Focused lights have been installed along with the flag which would illuminate it during night.
