102 new cases of Covid in Uttarakhand in two days

Public laxity on Covid-19 regulations, wearing masks causing spurt in cases of the disease

The laxity shown by the people in wearing masks and following the Covid-19 regulations is getting reflected in the increased number of cases of the disease in  Uttarakhand. The state health department which had reported 50 cases of Covid-19 on Wednesday reported 52 new cases of the disease on Thursday.

No death of any patient was reported in the State on the day.  The authorities also declared 54 patients cured from the disease on the day.  The department has so far detected 93,315 new cases of the disease from January 1 this year till date. A total of 89,542 patients have recovered from the disease so far in this year while 277 patients have died in the state since January 1 this year. The recovery percentage of the disease was at 95.96 per cent on Thursday. The positivity rate of the disease increased to 3.30 per cent on the day.  

 The health department reported 30 new patients each from Dehradun, five from Haridwar, four from Nainital, three from Almora, two each from Chamoli, Pauri and Udham Singh Nagar and one each from Bageshwar, Pithoragarh and Uttarkashi on Thursday.

No cases were reported from Champawat and Rudraprayag districts on the day. The number of active patients of Covid-19 in the state is now at 187. Dehradun with 124 cases is at the top of the table of active cases while Haridwar has 18 active cases. Champawat and Rudraprayag have no active cases of the disease. In the ongoing vaccination drive 7716  people were vaccinated in 865 sessions in the state held on Thursday.
