105 roads remain blocked across State

Even as parts of the State experience brief respite from inclement weather, more than 100 roads remain blocked in various parts of Uttarakhand due to landslides and other factors. According to information provided by the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC), out of the 1,973 roads damaged or blocked so far during this monsoon, 1,868 have been restored while a total of 105 roads are yet to be restored.
In the Rudraprayag district, the national highway to Kedarnath is open though two rural motor roads are blocked. In the Uttarkashi district, the national highways to Gangotri and Yamunotri are open while three rural motor roads are closed to traffic. In the Chamoli district, the national highway to Badrinath was open while 10 rural motor roads were reported to be blocked. Three rural motor roads are blocked in the Nainital district while 10 rural motor roads are blocked in Bageshwar district. In the Dehradun district, one State highway and 20 rural motor roads are blocked while one national highway, two border roads and 22 rural motor roads are blocked in the Pithoragarh district. Similarly, one State highway and two rural motor roads are blocked in the Almora district while two rural motor roads are blocked in the Champawat district. None of the roads were reported to be blocked in Haridwar and Pauri districts. Six rural motor roads were blocked in the Tehri district while one State highway and one rural motor road were blocked in the Udham Singh Nagar district. The officials stated that efforts are underway to reopen the blocked roads.
