108 emergency ambulance service gets 132 new ambulances
CM announces reward of Rs 11 K to every worker deployed in Covid-19 ward
In a step which would effectively double the fleet of 108 emergency ambulance service in Uttarakhand, the Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat flagged off 132 new ambulances on Tuesday at Gandhi Centenary eye hospital. The service at present has a fleet of 140 ambulances.
These ambulances have been purchased from the World Bank funded Uttarakhand disaster recovery project. The CM also inaugurated a ten bed ICU in the hospital on the occasion.
The CM declared that a sum of Rs 11000 each would be provided to the doctors and health workers deployed in Covid-19 wards. He also announced that all the Corona warriors of the state health department would be provided with certificates as a mark of gratitude for their services.
Speaking on the occasion, the CM said that the strengthening the health services in the state is one of the main priorities of the Uttarakhand government. He said that by inclusion of 132 new ambulances, the response time of the ambulance service would be reduced which would benefit the patients. He opined that the service would prove as life saving in the hill districts. Rawat said that the new ambulances are highly advanced and are equipped with basic life support system. He said that in last four years a total of 271 ambulances were provided to strengthen the health system of the state.
The CM said that a total of 2.32 lakh people have so far got benefitted from the Atal Ayushman Uttarakhand Yojana (AAUY). He said that the state government is committed to improve the health services and in last ten months, the number of ICU beds has increased from 216 to 863 while the number of ventilators has increased from 116 to 695. He promised that three new medical colleges would soon come up at Rudrapur, Haridwar and Pithoragarh.
The Mayor of Dehradun Municipal Corporation, Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’, secretary health Amit Negi, secretary disaster management S A Murugeshan, secretary in-charge Dr Pankaj Kumar Pandey and others were present on the occasion.
