12 doctors appointed at GDMC & Haridwar Medical College: Rawat

Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat informed that 12 doctors have been appointed at Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) and Haridwar Medical College. The State government has approved the recruitment of a dozen specialist doctors across various departments in both these medical colleges. These appointments, made on a contract basis, aim to ensure that medical students’ education and training are not disrupted and that better healthcare services can be provided to the public in affiliated hospitals, he said.
Rawat further added that the state government is actively working to fill 100 per cent of faculty positions in all government medical colleges managed by the Medical Education department. To achieve this, an interview committee has been established. This committee conducts walk-in interviews to select specialist doctors and forwards their names to the health department, he said.
Rawat said that recently, a selection committee has chosen a 12 specialist doctors, whose appointments have been approved by the State government. Specifically, six specialist doctors have been appointed to GDMC and six have been appointed to Haridwar Medical College. Further, these specialist doctors will serve on contract for three years or until regular appointments are made for the respective positions, whichever comes first. He added that the addition of these specialist doctors is expected to strengthen the medical colleges, allowing students to receive improved training and education.
