121 roads remain blocked across State

Even though heavy rainfall has not been experienced in the State for some days now, the effects of landslides and other issues caused by heavy rains continue to affect various parts of the State in different ways. While more than 100 roads are blocked, electricity and water supply also remains disrupted in various villages.
A total of 121 roads were reported to be blocked in different parts of the State on Friday evening. According to information provided by the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC), out of the 42 roads under Public Works Department (PWD) blocked on Friday and 75 roads blocked on Thursday- totaling to 117- 57 were reopened on Friday. The remaining 60 blocked roads include four State highways, three main district roads, two other district roads and 51 rural motor roads. Apart from these, 90 PMGSY roads were blocked on Thursday and five more got blocked on Friday- totaling to 95. Out of these, 37 roads were reopened on Friday with efforts underway to reopen the remaining 61 blocked roads. Currently, 33 machines are deployed on State highways, 10 on main district roads, six on other district roads and 75 on rural motor roads- totaling to 124 machines. Apart from these, 67 machines have been deployed on PMGSY roads in different parts of the State.
Apart from the blocked roads, power supply has remained disrupted in a number of villages especially in Chamoli and Tehri districts. Electricity supply has been restored to two out of 25 villages where it was disrupted with efforts continuing to restore power supply to the remaining 23 villages.
Meanwhile, the personnel of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) also conducted rescue and relief efforts in different parts of the State on Friday, rescuing and aiding people affected by accidents and disasters.
