The 121st Nanda Devi Mahotsav concluded in Nainital on Wednesday. The idols of the goddesses Nanda and Sunanda were taken out in a procession of the town from the Naina Devi temple after which they were immersed in the Naini lake to mark the conclusion of the eight-day religious fair.
Thousands of locals thronged the event and witnessed the city procession of the goddesses while also paying their obeisance to the deities on the occasion. It will be recalled that earlier while attending the fair, the State’s Tourism and Culture minister Satpal Maharaj had announced that the Nanda Devi Mahotsav will be granted State fair status.
