Multitudes thronged the conclusion of eight-day 122nd Ma Nanda Mahotsav here on Sunday. The representations of goddesses Nanda and Sunanda were taken out in a procession from the Naina Devi temple at 12 PM. Thousands of devotees hailed the goddesses as the procession passed through Mallital Bazaar, Pant Park, Lower Mall Road, Tallital Bazaar and Bada Bazaar before returning to Naina Devi Mandir.Musical bands from various places and folk dancers also performed during the procession. Residents of Nainital, villagers from nearby, devotees from Haldwani, Ramnagar, Kashipur, Rudrapur and other cities arrived here to participate in the occasion. The Mahotsav organisers Sri Ram Sevak Sabha distributed Prasad to all the people on the occasion even as various local business fraternity members also offered refreshments to the public. The police had also stepped up security arrangements for the occasion. Leader of opposition in the Vidhan Sabha, Yashpal Arya, Nainital MLA Sarita Arya, senior superintendent of police Prahlad Narayan Meena, Sri Ram Sevak Sabha chairman Manoj Sah and others were also present on the occasion. Meanwhile, devotees who had come from outside Nainital had to struggle to find seats in buses due to crowding.
