124 roads remain blocked due to rains & landslides across State

Rain and landslides have continued to cause disruption in the State with at least 124 roads reported blocked in various regions as on Friday evening. According to the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC), in the Rudraprayag district, the national highway 107 to Kedarnath is open till Kund where the motor bridge is closed to vehicles due to erosion of the abutment. The Kund-Chunni Bend to Kalimath-Guptkashi road is being used as an alternative. The Sonprayag-Gaurikund-Kedarnath bridle path is blocked due to a landslide at Lincholi with reconstruction work underway while nine rural motor roads and one pedestrian bridge are also blocked in the district. The national highways to Gangotri and Yamunotri are open in the Uttarkashi district though one State highway and six rural motor roads are blocked in the district.Similarly, the national highway to Badrinath is open in Chamoli district though 17 rural motor roads are blocked in the district. One State highway and five rural motor roads are blocked in Nainital district while eight rural motor roads are blocked in the Bageshwar district. In Dehradun district, one State highway, one main district road and five rural motor roads are blocked while in the Pithoragarh district, the Dharchula-Tawaghat national highway is blocked by debris at Elagad and 25 rural motor roads are also blocked. Similarly, two rural motor roads are blocked in the Champawat district while one State highway and one rural motor road are blocked in the Udham Singh Nagar district. One State highway and eight rural motor roads are blocked in Pauri district while 10 rural motor roads are blocked in the Tehri district. According to the SEOC, efforts are underway to reopen all the blocked roads.
