Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami honoured 13 women with the Tilu Rauteli Award and recognised 35 Anganwadi workers with the Anganwadi Workers Award on the weekend for their contributions across various fields. The recipients of the Tilu Rauteli Award include Pushpa Fartyal, Daya Danu, Nanda Sati, Ritika Bagauli, Neetu Rani, Vaishali Sharma, Latika, Priyanka Pant Thapliyal, Kalawati Devi, Durga Devi, Sarita Kothiyal, Pushpa Devi and Swatantri Badhani.
Dhami stated that Tilu Rauteli’s birth anniversary is a proud occasion in Uttarakhand’s history and serves as a celebration of women’s self-respect. He described Rauteli as an immortal symbol of indomitable courage, unparalleled valour and women’s power. The CM said that the felicitated women are a source of inspiration for other women and daughters of the State. He informed that the honorarium for the Tilu Rauteli Award was increased from Rs 31,000 to Rs 51,000 in 2023, and it will now be further raised to Rs 75,000. Similarly, the honorarium for the Anganwadi Workers Award will be raised from Rs 51,000 to Rs 61,000.
Dhami said that the State government has increased the honorarium for Anganwadi workers, mini Anganwadi workers and assistants. The honorarium for Anganwadi workers has been raised from Rs 7,500 to Rs 9,300, for mini Anganwadi workers from Rs 4,500 to Rs 6,250 and for assistants from Rs 3,550 to Rs 5,250. He also said that provisions have been made for the promotion of Anganwadi workers to the position of supervisor.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government has taken many significant steps to ensure the respect, safety and social and economic empowerment of women in the country. Initiatives such as the 33 per cent reservation for women in Parliament and State legislatures, as well as the Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao campaign, are bringing positive changes to women’s lives, he said. Under the PM’s guidance, the State government is working to empower women. In Uttarakhand, women have been granted 30 per cent horizontal reservation in government services and the State is the first in the country to implement a Uniform Civil Code. To empower women economically, schemes such as the Chief Minister’s Small Industries Promotion Scheme, the Entrepreneurship Development Programme and interest-free loans to women’s self-help groups are being implemented, he said. Women Empowerment and Child Development minister Rekha Arya and officials concerned were also present on the occasion.
