138 roads blocked in different parts of State

A total of 138 roads have remained blocked or affected by landslides and other factors resulting from rains in various parts of the State. Meanwhile, a part of the Mussoorie police station was damaged due to a landslide following heavy rain on Friday night. Nobody was injured in the mishap though a few vehicles were damaged. According to the information provided by the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC) on Saturday evening, the national highway to Kedarnath is open in Rudraprayag district though two rural motor roads are blocked in the district. The national highway to Badrinath is open in Chamoli district though 18 rural motor roads are blocked. The national highways to Gangotri and Yamunotri are open for traffic in Uttarkashi district while one State highway and one rural motor road are blocked. Four rural motor roads are blocked in Nainital district while one State highway and nine rural motor roads are blocked in Bageshwar district. One State highway, one main district road and 16 rural motor roads are reported to be blocked in Dehradun district whereas 22 rural motor roads are reported to be blocked in the Pithoragarh district. In the Almora district, work on erecting a bailey bridge is underway on the Khairna-Ranikhet- Ramnagar motor road in place of the bridge at Mohaan which was washed away by the river in spate on July 6. One State highway and one rural motor road are blocked in the district. Sixteen rural motor roads are blocked in the Champawat district while 14 rural motor roads are reported to be blocked in the Pauri district. One State highway and 13 rural motor roads are blocked in the Tehri district. Efforts are underway to restore all the affected roads, officials said.
