139 roads remain blocked in various parts of State

After a brief respite when the number of blocked roads dropped marginally, the number of such roads climbed up to 139 on Monday. According to information provided by the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC) on Monday evening, a total of 1,894 roads were affected in the State so far, out of which 139 are yet to be restored. Out of these roads, 95 were affected during the past 24 hours.
The national highway to Kedarnath is open while four rural motor roads are blocked in Rudraprayag district. The national highway to Badrinath in Chamoli district is open for traffic though 15 rural motor roads are blocked in the district. In the Uttarkashi district, the national highway to Yamunotri is open while the national highway to Gangotri was blocked due to a landslide near Bishanpur. One State highway and eight rural motor roads are also blocked in the district. One main district road and 14 rural motor roads are blocked in Bageshwar district while seven rural motor roads are blocked in Dehradun district. In the Pithoragarh district, 23 rural motor roads are blocked while one State highway and three rural motor roads are blocked in Almora district. Seven rural motor roads are blocked in the Champawat district while 18 rural motor roads are blocked in the Pauri district. Eight rural motor roads are blocked in Tehri district while one State highway and one rural motor road are blocked in Udham Singh Nagar district. Efforts are underway to reopen the blocked roads.
