14 trekkers including 13 Americans rescued after avalanche in Pindari glacier

The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) on Saturday rescued 14 trekkers including 13 Americans who were stuck after an avalanche at the Pindari glacier in Bageshwar district. The officials said the 14 trekkers had gone for training on the glacier but got trapped there due to an avalanche. 

The officials said that the local administration and authorities started taking action for the protection and rescue of the trekkers as soon as they received information about them late at night on April 20. The Health department and officials concerned were directed to arrange a medical kit, ambulance, medical team, food and drink arrangements along with other necessary arrangements.

SDRF personnel along with staff members of other departments concerned reached the location on Saturday and started the rescue operation. The officials informed that all trekkers were brought to Dwari village from Khuchiya in the late evening where they will stay at a government accommodation. All trekkers are safe and healthy and will be taken to Khati village on Sunday, as per the officials.
