140-bed Covid health centre inaugurated in Haridwar

Work has started on 500-bed temporary hospitals in Haldwani & Rishikesh- CM
Chief minister Tirath Singh Rawat formally inaugurated a 140-bed dedicated Covid health centre being operated jointly by the state government and Patanjali Yogpeeth in Haridwar on Tuesday. This Covid health centre comprises 140 oxygen beds, 10 emergency beds and four ventilators. The CM also launched the Haridwar Covid portal and pre-paid ambulance service on the occasion. Patanjali Yogpeeth is assisting in the operation of the Covid health centre by arranging the staff, sanitation, medicines, accommodation, food and other facilities.
Speaking on the occasion, Rawat said that this facility in Haridwar will also benefit people from neighbouring districts. He stressed on the need for all to strictly follow Covid guidelines, while adding that the state government is taking effective measures to tackle the pandemic. Free vaccination has been arranged for those in the 18-45 years age group for which the state government will bear the financial burden of about Rs 400 crore. The CM further said that the number of ventilators is being increased consistently in the state. Thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence minister Rajnath Singh, Rawat said that on his request work had been started on setting up 500-bed temporary hospitals each at government medical college in Haldwani and IDPL Rishikesh. These two hospitals will be ready in the next few days. He also informed that Rs 40 crore had been released for DRDO. The CM further said that a 19-metric tonne capacity oxygen tank will be established in a few days at the government medical college in Haldwani. With a positive response being received from the Government of India to the request for setting up an oxygen plant at the Himalayan institute at Jolly Grant, this facility too expected to be set up soon, he said.
Speaking on the occasion, Swami Ramdev of Patanjali Yogpeeth appreciated the efforts being undertaken by the government to address the Covid situation. Urban Development minister Banshidhar Bhagat, BJP State president and Haridwar MLA Madan Kaushik, Ranipur MLA Adesh Chauhan, Haridwar mayor Anita Sharma and Acharya Balkrishna of Patanjali Yogpeeth were also present on the occasion.
