144 hospitals chosen for Kayakalp Award

The State government has chosen 144 government medical treatment units for the 2022-23 Kayakalp Award under the quality assurance programme of the National Health Mission. The Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat will present these awards on January 4. The minister said that evaluation for the award is made on the basis of maintenance of the hospitals, sanitation, biomedical waste management, infection control practices, hygiene promotion, patient feedback and other aspects.
The 144 units selected for this award for 2022-23 include 10 district hospitals, 12 sub district hospitals, 16 community health centres, 41 primary health centres, 64 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs and one urban primary health centre. A total of Rs 203.50 lakh will be presented under quality assurance to these medical treatment units as part of the award. Rawat said that only 94 medical units were chosen for the Kayakalp Award in 2021-22. This time, the Dehradun district hospital and JLN district hospital in Udham Singh Nagar have been chosen as best district hospitals and will receive Rs 25 lakh each.
