The police team of cow protection squad arrested one person, rescued 17 live animals and seized 310 kilogrammes of beef from a house in the Piran Kaliyar police station area on Saturday morning. Three accused managed to escape from the spot.
The team of cow protection squad raided the home of Shahnawaz in Jawai Kheda Kaliyar area. The team recovered 310 kilogrammes of beef and equipment used in cow slaughter from the spot. The team also rescued 17 live cattle from the house.
One accused has been arrested from the spot, while three accused escaped from the spot. In-charge of the cow protection squad team, Ashish Kumar said that a case has been registered against everyone under the Protection of Cow and its Progeny Act. The arrested accused Tayyab is a resident of Kaliyar.
The absconding accused men have been identified as Shahnawaz, Irshad and Ahsan. The police are now raiding various locations in search of the absconding accused. The police team found evidence of large scale cow slaughter at the home raided on Saturday. After taking a sample of the seized beef, the police destroyed the remaining meat.
