18 from Maharashtra duped of Rs 1.80 lakh in the name of Kedarnath helicopter ride tickets

In latest Uttarakhand news, with cases of duping people coming to Char Dhams for pilgrimage by the fake heli service operators coming to light, 18 persons from Maharashtra have been allegedly duped of Rs 1.80 lakh in the name of heli service ride for Kedarnath shrine. A complaint has been filed with police in this matter. The complainant identified as Vinit said that he was to come to Kedarnath for darshan along with his 18 relatives living in Nagpur. He said in the complaint that he had talked with a person identified as Anurag Uniyal and the latter asked for Rs 1.80 lakh for the confirmation of the tickets. However, as the day of the travel came, the accused backed off and refused to return the money. Police registered a case against Uniyal, resident of Jakhan. Commenting on the matter, the Rajpur SO Jitendra Singh Chauhan said that Vinit had given the money in two installments-Rs 1.44 lakh on May 23 and the rest on May 27. “The group had to cancel the pilgrimage as the accused failed to send the tickets. They were even abused when they asked the money back,” the police officer said, adding that the police have registered a fraud case against the accused.
