18 new drug inspectors appointed in FDA

In a major relief to the Food Safety and Drugs Administration (FDA) suffering from acute shortage of manpower, the Commissioner FDA appointed 18 new drug inspectors on Friday. The FDA has also allotted districts to the newly appointed inspectors.
The additional commissioner of FDA, Tajber Singh said that the department has given first posting to 18 drug inspectors recently recruited by the Uttarakhand Public Service Commission (UkPSC).
He informed that the department has allotted Udham Singh Nagar district to Nidhi Sharma and Shubham Kotnala, Dehradun district to Vinod Jagudi and Nidhi Raturi and Chamoli district to Hardik Bhatt. Similarly Archna Uppal is deployed at Nainital, Seema Bisht at Pauri, Megha and Harish Singh at Haridwar and Amit Kumar Azad at Rudraprayag. The department has sent Rishabh Dhama to Tehri, Pankaj Pant to Pithoragarh, Puja Rani to Bageshwar, Puja Joshi to Almora, Harshita to Champawat and Md Tajim to Uttarkashi. Similarly the department has deployed Gauri Kukreti and Nisha Rawat at FDA headquarters Dehradun. The additional commissioner said that the newly appointed drug inspectors will have to join their duty immediately. These drug inspectors will be on probation period for two years.
The Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that the appointment of new drug inspectors will give a new impetus to the works of the department and help in maintaining transparency in the process of drug manufacturing and distribution system.
