The Dehradun police on Friday arrested a 19-year-old on charges of sexually harassing a nine-year-old girl. A man submitted a written complaint to the Nehru Colony police station on Friday stating that his daughter (9) was acting scared for the past many days but did not reveal anything despite being asked many times.
However, on Friday morning she told the family that their landlord Vishal Saini (19) allegedly sexually harassed her about two months ago and tried to do the same in the morning as well, said the Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh. He said that as per the father’s complaint, the daughter said that the accused also threatened to kill her if she told anyone about it.
On the basis of the complaint letter, a case was registered against the accused and a police team arrested the accused from Deepnagar on Friday based on allegations levelled by the minor’s father. Singh said that sexual abuse of children is one of the heinous crimes and parents should not hide it from authorities. He said that the police understand the sensitivity of such matters and handle each case accordingly.
