192 volunteers from U’Khand to be part of Amrit Kalash Yatra: CM

The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that a total of 192 volunteers from 95 development blocks and 101 municipal bodies from various parts of Uttarakhand along with 166 volunteers from Nehru Yuva Kendra, will be representing Uttarakhand in the Amrit Kalash Yatra. He said this during the Amrit Kalash Yatra event organised by the Culture department on Saturday at the Himalayan Culture Centre (HCC). Tourism and Culture minister Satpal Maharaj was also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion Dhami said under the Meri Maati Mera Desh initiative which was initiated by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the people have been provided with the opportunity to pay homage to the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for the country. The Amrit Kalash Yatra is being conducted nationwide as a part of the Meri Maati Mera Desh campaign with the objective of preserving the memory of the martyrs and their sacrifices. As a part of this Yatra, the soil from the homes of the martyrs is being carried in Amrit Kalash to the National Martyrs Memorial in Delhi, Dhami said.
He further added that the State government has also decided to increase the grant amount provided to soldiers or their dependents and to provide them with job opportunities. Maharaj said that the nation has successfully achieved sovereignty, unity, integrity and the vision of a strong India. The Amrit Mahotsav of independence was celebrated nationwide with great enthusiasm. As part of this campaign, the Meri Maati Mera Desh initiative has been launched to honour the countless heroes who have sacrificed their lives for the country, he added.
