199 roads remain blocked in various parts of State

Two dead, one injured in separate road accidents on Saturday

With the intensity of rainfall continuing to fluctuate in various parts of the State, the number of roads blocked due to landslides and other factors has also continued to fluctuate. According to the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC) at least 199 roads were blocked in various parts of the State on Saturday evening. Two persons died and one person was injured in two separate road accidents reported on Saturday.

According to SEOC data, the Rishikesh-Kedarnath national highway 107 was open in Rudraprayag district though 14 rural motor roads were reported to be blocked in the district. Five State highways, four main district roads and 39 rural motor roads were reported to be blocked in the Pauri district while one State highway, two main district roads, one other district road and 28 rural motor roads were reported to be blocked in Dehradun district. In Uttarkashi district, one person died and one was injured when the utility vehicle they were travelling in fell down the mountainside in the Bhatwadi Tehsil on Saturday morning. One district road, one State highway and nine rural motor roads were also blocked in the district. In Chamoli district one person died when the jeep he was driving fell down the mountainside near Bhagoti area in Narayanbagad Tehsil on Saturday afternoon. The Rishikesh-Badrinath national highway 58 was open for traffic though 41 rural motor roads were reported to be blocked in the district. One rural motor road was blocked in Almora district while three State highways, one main district road and 16 rural motor roads were reported to be blocked in the Tehri district. In the Udham Singh Nagar district, the bridge on NH-74 across the Dhela river in Sarvarkheda village is damaged while in Nainital district, three State highways, one other district road and 12 rural motor roads were reported to be blocked. One main district road and two rural motor roads were reported to be blocked in Bageshwar district while one rural motor road was reported to be blocked in Champawat district. One national highway, one border road and nine rural motor roads were reported to be blocked in Pithoragarh district.
